About
PositivePressureAttack.com
Since the late 1980s positive pressure methods for structure fires have evolved from using positive pressure after the fire was knocked down (Positive Pressure Ventilation, or PPV) to coordinating positive pressure ventilation with fire attack (Positive Pressure Attack, or PPA). Properly performed PPA can be implemented by a first-arriving engine, and is a safe, effective tactic that can save lives and property and help ensure firefighters go home safely.
Battalion Chiefs Kriss Garcia and Reinhard Kauffmann of the Salt Lake City, Utah, Fire Department have participated in this evolution through research, practical application, education and advocacy. They have taught thousands of firefighters at seminars and classes at conferences, fire departments and fire service events in the U.S. and other countries. They have also written articles and co-authored a book, Positive Pressure Attack for Ventilation and Firefighting. Their November, 2007, webcast on PPA, sponsored by Tempest Technology, can still be viewed at Fire Engineering Magazine's website.

Positivepressureattack.com is another effort to help educate firefighters about PPA, and seeks to provide a broad base of resources and information that will appeal to firefighters worldwide. Sponsorships from businesses and organizations involved in the fire service, particularly in positive pressure equipment, are welcome.
Kriss and Reinhard also welcome your comments and questions about the website, PPA or positive pressure in firefighting, and invite you to contact them by email.
